How do you know if you should hire a copywriter or DIY?

After all, we can all write, right? Well…..yes, true. BUT. How well do you know your ideal client? How well do you know your own business? Did you know there is an enormous amount of sales in copywriting?

Writing and marketing are two separate skills and not everyone has a marketing background.

A good copywriter will take your message and shape it into something your audience needs to hear. You want to encourage your audience to know, like, and trust you.

What does a copywriter do?

A copywriter will think about every page. They will consider, “How am I directing my client’s audience to take action? What’s important? And how can I get them to take that action?” Remember a website is about showing how you can give your client a transformation, whether you’re offering a product or a service. Copywriters also make your brand feel cohesive and consistent. Convincing your target audience is especially important for a copywriter, they know you want an ROI. To achieve your goals, they will be looking at ways to solve your target customer’s problems.

So why hire one?

Great question and we’ll address that right now. Firstly, TIME…..our time is precious and writing is extremely time-consuming. Great copywriting needs to address many aspects of a business, and time is one of them. If you don’t have time, (who of us does?), you need a copywriter. Facts and research are absolutely critical to good copy. Creativity is another crucial key. Knowing your business is foundational to a professional copywriter’s tool kit. You will need to know your business. Without all these skills you’ll be floating at sea. And that’s not including grammar, spelling, and structure of sentences, headings, paragraphs, and keywords to attract the Google love machine!
